Real Answers for Your Fertility Journey
General FAQs
-
That’s exactly what we’ll figure out together! Many clients start with a free Intro Call where we review your goals, health history, and any previous testing or treatment. From there, I’ll recommend the best starting point, whether it’s acupuncture, fertility coaching, functional labs, or a combination of services.
-
Not at all. Acupuncture treatments are provided in person at my San Diego office, but fertility coaching and functional lab work can be done virtually from anywhere. Many of my clients are located outside of California and receive comprehensive support online.
-
Yes — absolutely. My work is designed to complement your existing care team. I often collaborate with reproductive endocrinologists, OB/GYNs, and other specialists to create a fully integrative approach to your fertility or hormone health.
-
The first step is to schedule your free Intro Call. This allows us to review your history, goals, and any prior care you’ve received, and to determine which program or service would best support your next steps.
-
Conventional care often focuses on managing symptoms or looking at isolated systems. My approach takes a step back to evaluate your entire health picture — hormones, gut health, nutrient levels, stress, metabolic function, and more. This allows us to identify root causes and create a truly personalized plan tailored to your unique body.
-
While some clients may be able to use HSA or FSA funds, services are typically not covered by insurance. I’ll always review pricing and options transparently so you can make the best decision for your care.
-
Yes! Male fertility is an important piece of the puzzle, and I offer assessments, functional labs, and supportive plans for male partners as well.
-
You’re not alone — many clients come to me feeling anxious and exhausted from trying to figure it out on their own. My role is to simplify the process, provide answers, and walk beside you every step of the way with clear, actionable guidance.
Integrative Acupuncture
-
Acupuncture supports a wide range of reproductive, hormonal, and whole-body wellness concerns. Common reasons clients seek care include fertility challenges (such as IVF support, irregular cycles, diminished ovarian reserve, and unexplained infertility), menstrual issues, perimenopause symptoms, hormone imbalances, digestive issues, chronic stress, and pregnancy or postpartum support.
-
No referral is necessary to begin care. Many of my clients choose to incorporate acupuncture alongside care from their OB/GYN, reproductive endocrinologist, or primary care provider. I’m happy to collaborate with your existing care team to ensure a fully integrated approach.
-
The number of sessions depends on your individual goals, health history, and how your body responds to treatment. For fertility and hormone concerns, most clients start with weekly sessions for several months. We’ll regularly reassess your progress and adjust your plan as needed to support your specific journey.
-
Your first visit includes a comprehensive consultation where we’ll review your full health history, current symptoms, and wellness goals. You’ll receive your first acupuncture treatment and we’ll begin creating a personalized plan, which may include additional therapies like nutrition, functional lab testing, supplements, or lifestyle recommendations.
-
Yes. Acupuncture is widely used to support fertility and is safe during both the trying-to-conceive phase and throughout pregnancy. Treatments are always customized to your stage and needs to help optimize outcomes and promote a healthy pregnancy.
-
Not at all. While fertility is a core focus of my practice, many clients also come for support with hormonal imbalances, digestive issues, perimenopause, stress, pain, and overall wellness. Each treatment plan is fully customized to meet your unique needs.
-
Hands-on acupuncture sessions are offered in person at my San Diego office. However, many clients also benefit from virtual functional medicine consultations, coaching, and customized fertility lab reviews if appropriate for your care plan.
Acupuncture for IVF
-
Acupuncture works alongside your IVF treatment to improve blood flow to the uterus, support egg quality, balance hormones, reduce stress, and prepare your body for embryo transfer. Studies have shown that acupuncture can improve pregnancy and live birth rates when integrated into IVF care.
-
Ideally, acupuncture should begin at least 3 months prior to retrieval or transfer to fully support egg maturation, ovarian response, and uterine lining development. However, even starting acupuncture during stimulation, before transfer, or on transfer day itself can provide meaningful benefits.
-
On the day of your embryo transfer, I provide two acupuncture sessions on-site at your fertility clinic: one 30 minutes before transfer to optimize uterine receptivity, and one immediately after to support implantation and reduce uterine contractions.
-
Yes! I partner with many San Diego fertility clinics, including Fertility Specialists Medical Group, Gen 5 Fertility, Hanabusa, Kindbody SD, Pearl Mini IVF, Reproductive Partners Fertility Center, and San Diego Fertility Center. If your clinic isn’t listed, please contact me — we can often coordinate accommodations.
-
Appointments should be booked in advance to ensure coordination with your clinic.

-
Prior to transfer day you’ll receive a health history form to complete before transfer day. On the day of transfer just wear comfortable clothing and arrive hydrated. Everything else will be handled for you.
-
Absolutely. Acupuncture is a safe, non-invasive therapy that complements your IVF protocol. All treatments are customized to your cycle stage and performed by a board-certified fertility acupuncturist with specialized training in reproductive care.
-
Yes! Acupuncture can support ovarian function, egg quality, and hormone balance leading up to retrieval. The best results come from starting at least 3 months in advance, but no matter where you are in your timeline, acupuncture can help.
Functional Labs
-
Functional labs provide a deeper look at how your body’s systems are functioning together, often identifying imbalances before they show up as disease. While standard labs focus on diagnosing illness, functional testing looks for optimal ranges, root causes, and early patterns that may be contributing to symptoms like hormone imbalance, fatigue, or digestive issues.
-
No referral is needed. I will recommend the most appropriate tests based on your symptoms, goals, and history. All testing is ordered through my practice and reviewed together as part of your personalized care plan.
-
Functional labs help identify imbalances related to hormones, thyroid function, gut health, nutrient deficiencies, inflammation, metabolic health, adrenal function, and food sensitivities. These insights guide targeted treatment strategies to address concerns like irregular cycles, fertility struggles, perimenopause symptoms, digestive problems, fatigue, and more.
-
Most tests are completed at home with easy-to-follow collection kits, including saliva, urine, blood spot, or stool samples, depending on the test. Some blood work may be drawn locally if needed. I will guide you through the entire process to make it as simple and stress-free as possible.
-
Functional labs are typically not covered by insurance, as they fall outside the scope of conventional care. However, you may be able to use HSA or FSA funds to cover the cost. We’ll review pricing and options together before proceeding so you can make informed decisions.
-
Once your results are in, we’ll schedule a comprehensive review session to walk through the findings in plain language. You’ll receive a personalized plan outlining clear steps for nutrition, lifestyle, supplementation, and any additional therapies to address the root causes we uncover.
-
Yes! Many clients come to me after being told their labs are normal, but they still don’t feel well. Functional labs look at more sensitive ranges and patterns that help explain frustrating symptoms and create actionable solutions.
Integrative Fertility Coaching
-
Absolutely. Many of my clients are in their late 30s and early 40s. The Fertility Foundations Framework is specifically designed to support women navigating fertility after 35 by addressing egg quality, hormone balance, metabolic health, and other root causes that often contribute to age-related fertility challenges.
-
Yes. Even if you’ve done multiple IVF rounds, functional testing and a personalized plan can help identify underlying factors that may have been missed. Optimizing your health between or alongside IVF cycles can improve implantation, egg quality, and overall success rates.
-
While your fertility clinic focuses on reproductive technology, this program focuses on your whole body. We look at gut health, nutrient deficiencies, inflammation, hormone metabolism, and other systems that impact fertility but are often overlooked in conventional care. This approach complements any existing medical treatment you’re receiving.
-
No. My goal is to make this process feel manageable and supportive. Together, we’ll prioritize changes, build your plan step-by-step, and I’ll be available for guidance between sessions. Many clients find they feel less overwhelmed once they have clear answers and a roadmap.
-
Yes! Fertility coaching is offered virtually, so we can work together from anywhere. Lab testing kits are shipped directly to your home, and consultations happen online, making it convenient and accessible no matter where you’re located.
-
Yes. While many clients are women, I do offer support for male factor fertility concerns, and I welcome partners into the process if desired. Optimizing both partners’ health can make a significant impact on fertility outcomes.
-
Many clients see meaningful progress within the first 4 months. Depending on your needs, we can discuss ongoing support or maintenance sessions to continue tracking progress, adjusting your plan, or preparing for pregnancy as you move forward.
