Two couple celebrating IVF success after supporting fertility with acupuncture in San Diego.

Acupuncture for IVF

Acupuncture is a well-studied way to support your IVF treatment. Each individualized treatment is carefully designed to address your unique needs and align seamlessly with your IVF protocol. In collaboration with your Reproductive Endocrinologists, this integrative approach ensures every step of your care works together to maximize your chances of success.

Acupuncture on the day of embryo transfer has been shown to increase pregnancy success rates and support implantation. I provide on-site acupuncture at leading fertility clinics in San Diego, ensuring you get the best care before and after your transfer.

On-Site IVF Acupuncture for Embryo Transfer

On the day of your transfer, two acupuncture sessions are provided on-site at your fertility clinic. The first treatment is scheduled for 30 minutes before your embryo transfer, and the second takes place immediately after.

  • Pre-transfer treatment: Supports blood flow to the uterus, optimizes uterine receptivity, and helps reduce stress and anxiety.

  • Post-transfer treatment: Promotes implantation, reduces uterine contractions, and continues to encourage relaxation.

Research supports the benefits of acupuncture on embryo transfer day. One study found that:

  • Live birth rates increased by 55% compared to FET alone.

  • Chemical pregnancy rates were reduced by 42%

IVF Prep Acupuncture: Preparing for a Successful Cycle

While acupuncture on transfer day is highly beneficial, preparing your body in the months leading up to IVF can make a significant impact. Ideally, acupuncture should begin 3 months before retrieval or transfer, but benefits can be seen at any stage of the process.

How IVF Prep Acupuncture Helps:

  • Enhances ovarian function to support egg maturation and retrieval.

  • Improves uterine lining for implantation success.

  • Supports ovarian response to IVF medications.

  • Relieves stress and promotes relaxation, supporting hormone balance.

No matter where you are in your IVF timeline, acupuncture can help optimize your chances of success.

Acupuncture for IVF

  • Acupuncture works alongside your IVF treatment to improve blood flow to the uterus, support egg quality, balance hormones, reduce stress, and prepare your body for embryo transfer. Studies have shown that acupuncture can improve pregnancy and live birth rates when integrated into IVF care.

  • Ideally, acupuncture should begin at least 3 months prior to retrieval or transfer to fully support egg maturation, ovarian response, and uterine lining development. However, even starting acupuncture during stimulation, before transfer, or on transfer day itself can provide meaningful benefits.

  • On the day of your embryo transfer, I provide two acupuncture sessions on-site at your fertility clinic: one 30 minutes before transfer to optimize uterine receptivity, and one immediately after to support implantation and reduce uterine contractions.
